Continuing the focus of a new product on shelf with a Cormack Component the improves the environmental impact of the pack it replaces, this month we are featuring the new Colgate Ajax pack with latest truly all recyclable plastic trigger from Silgan.

Traditional spray triggers have historically used a metal spring and ball. Whilst the subcomponents when fully separated are all 100 % recyclable, the mix of plastic and metal in the assembled items renders them non-recyclable in Australia. Recent all Plastic triggers contain a POM spring (xxxx) to replace the metal spring. It is a robust material that has a strong chemical resistance, a good “memory” and does not tend to stress crack with repeated action. Whilst considered a form of plastic, POM is not recyclable and therefore in the fully assembled trigger renders the full plastic trigger non-recyclable.

Silgans Sprayplast team have used the very latest version of PP resin to formulate a PP spring that performs the same as their original POM spring. This innovation the allows the full trigger to go through traditional recycling streams and be shredded and the PP and HDPE 100 % recovered for recycling as reclaimed resins.

Be sure to keep your eye out when next your shopping for the New Ajax professional Spray pack with the 100% recyclable all plastic trigger.
